Aertson Midtown

Crain Construction completed this highly complicated Aertson Midtown project, taking the project from structure to a complete building envelope. The 17-story, 800,000 square-foot, mixed-use urban development covers two acres near Vanderbilt University in Nashville and includes a Kimpton Hotel, 350 apartments, a 630-space parking garage and street-level retail.
The structure includes 36 sloping columns, multiple transfer beams and a concrete-framed trellis at the top of the building. Nine elevators were installed to service the hotel and apartments.
Crain Construction implemented special noise-reduction measures for the 93 nighttime elevated slab concrete pours involving an average of 30 truckloads of concrete for each pour. Approximately 30,000 cubic yards of concrete went into the structure.
